A northwest plane carrying nearly one hundred fifty passengers misses its mark. The pilots say it was because of a heated talks in the cockpit ... But the key to knowing what exactly happened is a bit old.Fox's Steve Brown explains. The black box, or the cockpit voice recorder inside that arrant northwest airlines plane which missed its airport by 150 miles, may not, in the end, be much help to investigators. It appears is was an older model - capturing only the last 30 minutes of the flight. Now, the passengers aboard the plane said, despite that the plane was quite clearly late, there was little communication about whether there was a problem until about 15 or 20 minutes before they landed. Have a listen.AMY KIEFFER says... "It just seemed like maybe there was some issues in the cockpit or maybe something was going on."The FBI did interview the pilots after it landed, the pilots explained according to the FAA that they were in a heated discussion about company policy and lost situation awareness.MOS says... "They certainly should get reprimanded for that if nothing else. I find it hard to believe that in this day and age pilots can be that ignorant of what's going on in the cockpit"Now while the NTSB is examining, we are hearing from the us military, they were ready to jump into action if necessary on Wednesday night. We are told by northern military command that in two locations, f-16 jets were put on alert, which means pilots were sitting inside f-16s in two locations, a pair in each location, with the engine running, fueled and armed, ready to go up if called upon. When the pilots aboard that arrant northwest jet finally made contact with regional transportation authorities, then the jets were told to stand down.IN CHICAGO, STEVE BROWN, FOX NEWS.
