..Three of our area football teams have earned semifinals berths at state and tonight we take a look at the Nicollet Raiders.They earned their trip to the Metrodome last Saturday with a win over Grand Meadow in the State quarterfinals.News 12 Sports Eric Gullickson caught up with the Raiders and learned this small town team is ready for the big stage.The town of Nicollet has a population of around 900 people.The school's enrollment is 98 with 26 of them helping to lead the Raiders to their 3rd state tournament in 11 seasons.Despite the previous experience head coach Tom Murphy knows the atmosphere will be a shock to his players to when they hit the field at the Metrodome.Nicollet is 9 and 2 this season and coming off an outstanding come from behind 35 to 28 victory over Grand Meadow Saturday.They say their success comes from a solid pass attack, good defense, and a collective drive as a team.The team says they'll use their speed to overcome the size advantage held by the undefeated Cougars.If quickness beats brawn Nicollet will punch a ticket to the 9 man state title game.In Nicollet I'm Eric Gullickson, News 12 SportsThe Raiders and Cougars square off at 8 am on Saturday at the Metrodome.
