WEM Preps For Showdown With Eden Valley Watkins in Class AA Quarterfinals...

In class AA the Waterville Elysian Morristown Bucs defeated the defending state champions from Caledonia 20 to 13 to reach the state semifinals this weekend. The Bucs face Eden Valley Watkins this Saturday and say they are going to play a big ten style game to get it done.News 12 sports Eric Gullickson has the story."If you spell out Waterville Elysian Morristown Buccaneers you won't find the letter D in any of them, but don't let that fool you. The Bucs Defense is what's got them here and they hope they can step up again this weekend to get to the next step."They're really playing as a team everybody counts on everybody else, believes they'll all do their own jobs...d side especially, I'm really happy with it."The W-E-M defense has allowed 2 scores or less every game but one this season. The Bucs have two shutouts in their last four games and sealed their State Quarterfinal victory with a pick 6 in the 4th quarter to go up 20 to 13.The players agree with their coach, they play as a team and expect to win as a team.By things he means wins and if it weren't for a missed two point conversion in Wells they would be unbeaten this fall. The players know what the football tradition at W-E-M means to the area and want to show Eden Valley Watkins what the Green and Black are all about. To beat the Eagles Saturday night the Bucs will look to force the pass and give their opponents star quarterback little time.If they can, look for the Bucs defense to guide them to another Prep Bowl, next weekend at the Metrodome. With the W-E-M football team..."I've never been to state, I've dreamt about it since I was younger, I hope we can get there."I'm Eric Gullickson, News 12 Sports. The Bucs and undefeated Eagles hit the turf at the dome this Saturday at 5:45 pm.
