A long vacant property at the forefront of North Mankato's downtown finally has a plan. The North Mankato Port Authority has been looking for something to fill the void of the old Marigold Dairy property on Belgrade Avenue next to 169 for nearly 20 years.Wendell Sande says, "The developer is Van Moody. He's the owner of computer Technology Solutions and in the first phase Computer Technology Solutions will occupy the main floor."That first phase is expected to begin in May, and finish by the fall, with two other buildings to be built over the next six years. The second phase will contain two levels of retail and commercial space, with ten apartments above. And the third phase will be a building containing eleven condominiums.City leaders are happy to have development in a key area of town.Sande says, "We felt for a long time that that's the gate entrance to the community on Belgade Avenue and its very desirable of a building on that site. Something that will be a credit to that site and to the community."Total cost on the project looks to be around eleven million dollars.
