The stress of playing the stock market could have some very real health consequences...Michelle Gielan has that story and more in today's health watch report.The stock market could wreak havoc on more than just your savings -- it could also hurt your heart.Researchers at Duke University found that the number of heart attacks they saw at their North Carolina hospital rose with the fall of the Nasdaq stock index.The trend showed up soon after the recession began in December of 2007 and continued through last summer when signs of recovery began popping up.Police officers who worked near ground zero after the 9/11 attacks appear to be showing early signs of heart problems at a higher rate than expected for their age.A study of about 12-hundred responders found nearly HALF had some sign of impaired heart function.Researchers stress that the findings still must be confirmed and that other factors such as stress following events like 9/11 can also affect the heart.Calcium may help you live longer.A new study found that men who consumed the most calcium in their food were 25 percent LESS likely to die over the next decade than those who took in the least amount of calcium.None of the men took calcium supplements.Those are some of today's top medical stories.I'm Michelle Gielan - CBS News - New York.
