Meanwhile, Ice jams in the Minnesota River are causing the water to rise at rapid rates.And many towns along the river are under a flood warning.News 12's Caroline Rowland joins us live in the newsroom with more on how one town is preparing. Caroline.The town of Henderson is under a flood warning and residents there are on flood lookout.An ice jam about a half a mile north of Henderson, caused the river to rise three feet over night.Sibley County officials are taking swift action, much sooner than they expected.Tom Phillips, Emergency Management director, Sibley County says, "We haven't had that big of a rise since I've been doing it. And I went through '93, 97, and 2001."While officials in Henderson have been preparing for flooding... Ice jams and record high temperatures are causing the water to rise quicker than expected.And there could be more problems on the way...Tom Phillips, Emergency Management director, Sibley County says "if we doing get more immediate ice jams close to it we'll get a slow rise, however there is supposed to be one at Saint Peter that's supposed to be big."Phillips says Sibley County is prepared and they don't expect too much damage to be done, thanks to the levees.Tom Phillips, Emergency Management director, Sibley County says, "Only if the levy brakes. And we maintain our levees. There are many cities that don't but I have a lot of confidence in our levees."And residents we spoke with say they're not too worried... because they've been through it before.Tom Graham, Henderson Resident says, "I'm not concerned about it just some minor incontinences with the roads being under water, No damage or lives are at stake so it's really not too big of a thing.John Baske, Henderson Resident says, "They're always going to worry about it. Some are, some aren't.Some inconveniences residents might face is the closure of both highway 93 and highway 19.Sibley County officials expect to close those roads because of overflow sometime this week, maybe as early as Wednesday.Live in the newsroom Caroline Rowland, news 12.
