On the Girls side of the ball, St. Peter knocked off both number one seeds in the section 2AA tournament last week to advance to their first state tournament since 1987.I caught up with the team today and while they wear red white and blue uniforms, it's Brown that's making the difference for the Saints. The best players in any sport want the ball in their hands whenever the game is on the line. With 8 seconds to play in overtime St Peter's Ann Marie Brown showed why she's one of the best players in our region by hitting the game winning bucket to defeat Blue Earth Area in the section championship game Friday Night. The junior notched her 1000th point in the win and says while there is an I in Saints, it's about team not me.SOT BROWNThe Saints have just one senior on the team and will be a force in 2011 but the lone 12th grader says she wants to win now and not have a wait until next year attitude. The Saints are currently 21 and 6 and scheduled to take on a tough 27 and 2 Rochester Lourdes squad in the state quarterfinals Wednesday Night. But if they continue to play the way they have in the section tournament expect them to make everyone in the Twin Cities see red, white, blue and brown this weekend at State.Congratulations to the St. Peter Saints and good luck.In St Peter, Eric Gullickson, News 12 sports.
